‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’s Shocking Cameo Makes a Triumphant Return in New Deleted Scene
The following post contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Far From Home. You have been warned, web-heads.
The best moment in Spider-Man: Far From Home was clearly that shocking post-credits scene, where Peter Parker’s secret identity was exposed to the entire world by ... J.K. Simmons’ J. Jonah Jameson, reprising his role for the first time (in live-action) since Spider-Man 3. Simmons was back! JJJ was back! And now he was an Alex Jones-style YouTuber!
It was a tremendous surprise, and a very clever update of a classic character. And while the future of Spider-Man films is now in doubt due to the end of the Marvel/Sony deal, it set up an amazing cliffhanger for whatever movie comes next.
In Far From Home, the new Jameson works for a site called TheDailyBugle.net. You can now go to that site, thanks to Sony Pictures’ promoting the home video release of Far From Home. It includes a new Simmons-as-JJJ video that was not in the theatrical cut of the film. Take a look:
Spider-Man: Far From Home is available now on Digital HD; the Blu-ray goes on sale on October 1. I want to hear J.K. Simmons say “please like and subscribe” at least 50 more times.
