The first trailer for Marvel's Joss Whedon-directed 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' gave us a clue as to which 'Avengers' stars (beside Coulson) would make the first appearance in ABC's new series. But superheroes aren't the only Marvel characters we'd want to see. Were the man himself, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury, to show up in Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,' how would Jackson want it to be done?

Speaking to Vulture, Jackson corroborated earlier ideas about Nick Fury's appearance on the smaller-scale 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' by suggesting a 'Charlie's Angels'-type appearance for the grouchy, one-eyed organization head.

If I was going to do 'S.H.I.E.L.D.,' I'd like to be -- you know Charlie's voice on 'Charlie's Angels'? That would be perfect. Because everybody recognizes my voice. That would be good enough for me. And I told Joss that. I don't know. [Joss] can't hire me, I guess. Disney, Marvel, we'll see what they think ... It would legitimize the show in another way.

The first trailer certainly made it appear as if 'The Avengers' and 'How I Met Your Mother' star Cobie Smulders might put in an appearance, but it wouldn't prove tremendously difficult (or expensive) to record Jackson for a brief stint. We'd guess that any other major appearances from film characters (particularly non-CGI ones) would be reserved for sweeps and finales and the like.

Regardless of who pops up first, Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ features a cast that includes Clark Gregg’s resurrected Agent Phil Coulson, Whedon vet J. August Richards, ‘ER’ doc Ming-Na, Chloe Bennet, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Henstridge and Iain De Caestecker.

We're expecting 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' to have a big presence at Comic-Con this year, so what do you think? Will there be any surprises in store for the first episodes of ABC's new series?
