The other day saw John Ridley confirming that his long-developing Marvel TV series was still in the mix, even as no one knows what, or when the project represents. And even as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gears up for a spinoff, it seems another live-action comedy behind Marvel’s Damage Control may be in contention for the ever-expanding universe.

Take this one with a few grains of salt for now, but IGN had the chance to speak to ABC boss Paul Lee after the weekend’s TCA press tour panels, wherein Lee claimed there were two Marvel-based comedies in develop for the network, one of which we knew as Damage Control:

That’s the one that’s going to be coming out this season. I haven’t read it yet. I can’t wait to see it. We hope it’s going to be great.

The single-camera Damage Control would focus on those tasked with cleaning up after the destruction caused by various superhero battles, as written and developed by former Daily Show and Colbert Report executive producer Ben Karlin. So reads the logline:

Specializing in dealing with the aftermath of the unique fallout from superhero conflicts, they’re the ones who are in charge of returning lost ray guns to their rightful owners, help to reschedule a wedding venue after it has been vaporized in a superhero battle, or even track down a missing prize African parrot that’s been turned to stone or goo.

Details of the second series remain curiously opaque, though Lee offered “in the long term, we’d love it to be [on ABC]. We definitely want to do Marvel comedies as well as dramas and of course, as you know, we supply lots of dramas to Netflix.”

Presumably intended to take place within the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe, both Damage Control and the second comedy join an expanding TV roster that includes Netflix Defenders series Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, as well as ABC’s own Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

We’ll toss Marvel’s second comedy series into the same mystery pile as John Ridley’s drama, but which of the newest series holds the most interest? Should Marvel keep their attention to the on-air dramas, as well as the Netflix herd?
