Lest you think Piper was ever getting out of prison, Netflix has added three more terms to her sentence. That’s right, Orange is the New Black has been renewed for three more seasons, locking down the ladies of Litchfield through 2019 with Seasons 5, 6 and 7.

Even better, were fans of Orange is the New Black worried about keeping the series’ talent under lock and key (prison jokes!) through the impressive renewal, showrunner Jenji Kohan has committed to stick with the award-winning drama through Season 7. Says she:

Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures. Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers… with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!

As far as Season 4, set to premiere on June 17, know Laura Prepon is confirmed to return from her ambiguous last moments as Alex, along with Season 3 guest star Blair Brown, while Mad Men alum Matthew Weiner will direct an episode.

Not that Orange is the New Black ever seemed in danger of cancellation, but what can we expect from the next three seasons, let alone the coming fourth on June 17? Whatever will Piper (or hopefully more interesting characters) do to keep themselves locked up so long?
