‘The Leftovers’ Prepares for Final Departure in Biblical New Trailer
The end really is nigh for HBO’s The Leftovers, and not just for by the third and final season’s April premiere. A new trailer teases both the move to Australia and some worldwide disasters of biblical proportion, not to mention some sweet Justin Theroux beard.
HBO released an extended new teaser for the April 16 premiere, in the process suggesting that worldwide floods might provide a reason for the Garveys and Jamisons to make their move to Australia. There also appear to be flashbacks to Puritan times, perhaps in the same vein as Season 2's cavewoman beginnings.
So reads the final season synopsis:
This season finds the Garvey and Murphy families coming together as they desperately grasp for a system of belief to help better explain that which defies explanation. The world is crackling with the energy of something big about to happen, a corresponding bookend to the Sudden Departure that sent them all spinning years earlier, bringing their journey Down Under.
And two new photos, why not:
The Leftovers Season 3 will take the spring slot vacated by Game of Thrones, with Birdman and Alice: Through the Looking Glass star Lindsay Duncan joining the cast in an unspecified role. Near of the entire Season 2 cast has been confirmed to return for the final year, while the series has also released its additional photos from the final season.
The Leftovers Season 3 may debut more straight-forward trailers in the coming months, but have a look at the prior tease below, while we wait for April.
