It’s been some time since Tracy Morgan first started putting together an FX comedy, a development process tragically marred by his infamous accident, though FX heads insisted they’d wait for the beloved SNL star. Now, Morgan has finally set a new FX comedy to producer and star in, joined by Key & Peele alum Jordan Peele.

The as-yet untitled FX comedy would see Morgan starring as a man adjusting to modern life after 15 years in prison, while the official synopsis adds “Now, a man whose only expertise is making grilled cheese with an iron must navigate a modern world of political correctness, internet, and self-driving cars.”

Jordan Peele and and Eastbound & Down alum John Carcieri will write the comedy and act as executive producers, along with Morgan, Two and a Half Men alum Eric Tannenbaum and fellow Key & Peele vet Joel Zacak. Says FX of the project:

What an unbeatable combination — Tracy Morgan and Jordan Peele — two exceptional comics joining forces with a great team of writers and producers to create and produce this pilot for FX Networks. We’ve been committed to Tracy from the start and are thrilled that Jordan, John, Eric and Joel are joining him in developing this new project.

We’ll see more as it develops, but is Tracy Morgan up to the task of a new series, with Jordan Peele at his side?
