The Wachowski’s Netflix ‘Sense8′ Channels ‘The Matrix’ in First Photos

Netflix has added so many new original series prospects in the last few months, we’d almost forgotten the Wachowskis would follow up Jupiter Ascending with the mysterious globe-trotting Sense8, live births and all. Now, the first photos of the series have arrived, looking a bit more John Woo action-style than we’d expected.

As printed in the pages of Empire, our first look at Sense8 goes heavy on the action, doubling down with dual pistols in midair, machetes and rocket launchers. The accompanying text also clarrifies a bit of the series’ cast, while simultaneously making comparisons of everything from Blade Runner to LOST. And hey, there’s even a rainbow strap-on for good measure!

Sense8 follows eight characters around the world who, in the aftermath of a tragic death, find themselves linked to each other mentally and emotionally. Its cast includes Daryl Hannah, LOST star Naveen Andrews, Brian J. Smith (Stargate: Universe), Tuppence Middleton (Jupiter Ascending), Aml Ameen (The Maze Runner), Freema Agyeman (Doctor Who), Indian actress Tena Desae, South Korean actress Doona Bae, German actor Max Riemelt, Mexican actors Alfonso Herrera and Erendira Ibarra as well as Jamie Clayton, Miguel Silvestre and Terrence Mann.

All 10 episodes of the mystery series will arrive on June 5, with a first trailer hitting any day now, but see for yourself what the Sense8 sensation is all about in the photos above.
