There was once a time I refused to believe a Green Lantern movie would happen (still do, to be honest), so it’s perhaps unfair to contextualize Arrested Development Season 5 by its never-ending stream of vague updates from cast and crew. Right on schedule, then, Jessica Walter has another positive update on progress. Let’s keep that pot stirring!

Deadline spoke with the once and future Lucille Bluth at the Creative Arts Emmys, wherein Walter offered a quick encouragement of Arrested Development finally coming back together (uh, again). “It’s looking real good,” said Walters. “I don’t have dates, but everybody is on board.” Hooray!

Most recently, creator Mitch Hurwitz suggested 2017 as a possible start date:

We’re very close. It’s a thing I really am desperate to do. We’ve got a lot of the stories broken. We’re kinda ready to go. I’m so appreciative of the fans wanting more, I hate to tease them with information that there is going to be more until we know for sure, but it’s what we’re trying to accomplish and if does happen it looks like shooting would be at the start of 2017. That’s what I’m hoping.

If nothing else, Walter’s words are slightly more encouraging than on-screen son Will Arnett’s comments that Netflix bosses “need to get their s— together,” but is the time finally nigh? Hurwitz has also mapped out a large portion of Season 5, hoping to start soon enough to capitalize on eerie similarities to the November elections, so we’ll see if 2017 is finally our year.
