‘Avengers: Endgame’ Is the Fastest Movie to $2 Billion Ever, Second Biggest Movie Ever
After just ten days in theaters, Avengers: Endgame has already grossed over $2 billion, the fastest movie — and only the fifth movie in history — that’s ever made it to that milestone. After another gigantic weekend in theaters around the world, Endgame is also the second biggest movie ever, behind only Avatar. Here’s how the all-time worldwide box office chart currently looks:
- Avatar - $2.788 billion
- Avengers: Endgame - $2.188 billion
- Titanic - $2.187
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens - $2.068
- Avengers: Infinity War - $2.048
Now that Disney owns Fox, which owns Avatar, that means Disney holds control over more than four of the five biggest movies in the history of the universe. (Titanic was produced by Paramount and Fox; Paramount holds the domestic rights, while Disney/Fox has the international rights.)
Avengers grossed $145.8 million in its second weekend in U.S. theaters, a number that would be a stellar debut for any other movie. Though that does represent a roughly 60% drop from Endgame’s opening weekend, Marvel’s biggest blockbuster has now made almost $620 million in the United States alone after just 10 days, making it the eighth biggest film in American history as well.

At this point it seems a foregone conclusion that Avengers will pass Avatar to become the biggest motion picture in history. The ball’s in your court, James Cameron. You have four Avatar sequels coming up to try to get your title back. Good luck!
