Even as Bran’s northern journey ranked among the less compelling Game of Thrones plots over the years, his Season 4 arrival at the Three-Eyed Raven signaled a much more momentous turn ahead, albeit at the cost of Isaac Hempstead Wright sitting out a season. Now, with Bran’s return confirmed, Wright teases visions of Westeros’ past, present and future, potentially some major mythology for the series.

You’re warned of Game of Thrones Season 6 (as well as the franchise overall) spoilers, but where many an HBO viewer might scratch their head as to Bran’s actual abilities, Entertainment Weekly’s interview with Wright confirms that the second-youngest Stark boy will navigate visions of Westeros’ history:

Previously Bran’s seen tiny glimpses of future or past but never has he been very much in control in the situation. Now we’re given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he’s watching the show. Equally, he’s now discovering how crucial he could be in the Great War. It’s quite Inception-y.

As stated, HBO has shown us a few pieces of Bran’s visions before, but might full command reveal some of the biggest mysteries Westeros has to offer? There’s certainly the hotly-anticipated question of Jon Snow’s parentage, while other location shoots and casting calls have suggested we might see a younger Ned Stark at the famed Tower of Joy. Many a fan have theorized that Bran’s visions might prove the key to answering questions long-teased by author George R.R. Martin, and Wright may here be confirming it.

Elsewhere of Game of Thrones Season 6, screen legend Max von Sydow has been cast as the mysterious Three-Eyed Raven, while Deadwood alum Ian McShane will also appear in a limited, mysterious role, joining Richard E. Grant and The Babadook star Essie Davis as theatre troup players, four notable actors as the Tarly family, Melanie Liburd as a new Red Priestess, and Borgen star Pilou Asbæk as fan-favorite Euron Greyjoy. Apart from a list of directors, Of Monsters and Men will put in a cameo, and story logistics seemingly confirm scenes set at The Wall next year, presumably to explain this giant spoiler.

We still don’t know when exactly in April Game of Thrones will premiere, but is could Season 6 use Bran to answer the big questions? What else might HBO reveal on the road to 2016?
