‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Might Do More Seasons After ‘Ten Years Later’
Wet Hot American Summer fans were happy enough to have Netflix return to Camp Firewood fourteen years after the fact; another reunion Ten Years Later is just gravy. Well, we may yet have more Wet Hot American Summers on deck, as writers have at least considered future seasons.
Even as Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later theoretically fulfills the sequel promise of the original 2001 film, we wouldn’t mind revisiting the Camp Firewood characters even further down the line. Neither would writer-star Michael Showalter, who told UPROXX he was up for the idea of additional Wet Hot American Summers bringing characters to the actual actors’ ages:
What’s it like to be playing a character in your mid-twenties when, ten years ago, you were playing a character in his teens?
Well, I was just sort of thinking that, if we keep doing it at this rate, we’ll actually be our own age. Like, next time we do Wet Hot, it’ll be like, their 25th reunion, and then we’re just our actual ages or something. But it’s fun. I mean it’s fun to kind of… It’s literally playing dress up, it’s just silly. It’s just totally silly.
Granted, it was an incredible achievement to reunite that cast once, let alone twice (minus Bradley Cooper). Ten Years Later alone features the incredible lineup of A.D. Miles, Amy Poehler, Beth Dover, Christopher Meloni, Chris Pine, David Hyde Pierce, David Wain, Elizabeth Banks, Eric Nenninger, H. Jon Benjamin, Janeane Garofalo, Jason Schwartzman, Joe Lo Truglio, John Early, Josh Charles, Ken Marino, Kristen Wiig, Lake Bell, Marguerite Moreau, Marisa Ryan, Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter, Molly Shannon, Nina Hellman, Paul Rudd, Rich Sommer, Sarah Burns and Zak Orth. New cast includes Skyler Gisondo, Samm Levine, Mark Feuerstein, Marlo Thomas, Joey Bragg, Jai Courtney, Dax Shepard, Alyssa Milano and Adam Scott.
In the meantime, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later will officially premiere on August 4, and perhaps offer us another glimpse of the future. Watch the trailer below, and stay tuned.
