‘American Horror Story: Coven”s First Photos Reveal Denis O’Hare, and Witches on Parade!

Perhaps owing to a lighter tone than its predecessor, 'American Horror Story: Coven' has been especially generous with reveals of the new season, from the recent teaser-trailer highlighting the cast, to new batch of photos the emerge today showing even more familiar faces. See the witches strut their stuff around New Orleans, while returning franchise veteran Denis O'Hare gets a ghastly makeover in the first photos from 'American Horror Story: Coven!'

Arriving from Entertainment Weekly, the new photos from the FX horror drama's third cycle offer up our first look at newcomer Emma Roberts, as well as O'Hare's disgusting makeup job this time around, which seems a bit familiar as far as horror movie archetypes go. Also, bird costumes! Angela Bassett! Babes in black! It's can't-miss. Check out the official logline for the season, while we're at it:

Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Taissa Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Jessica Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.

While we wait for the October 9 premiere, we know that the third season will pit witches against voodoo in both present and 1830s New Orleans to tell the story. ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ will also welcome newcomers Danny Huston, Christine Ebersole, Kathy Bates, Patti LuPone, Leslie Jordan and Gabourey Sidibe, along with returning franchise regulars Jessica Lange, Alexandra Breckinridge, Lily Rabe, Frances Conroy, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
