‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Returns Kathy Bates for Season 5
American Horror Story Season 5 might well prove the most revamped run to date, but the Hotel seems to be filling up with familiar faces. Next on the list is Emmy-winning Coven and Freak Show alum Kathy Bates, whose American Horror Story Season 5 role might be a major one.
Thanks to series creator Ryan Murphy‘s usual Tweet-ly reveals, we now know that Bates will return for American Horror Story: Hotel as the titular establishment’s manager, or barring some unusual wordplay, running a marathon within its walls:
Bates joins a Hotel cast that thus far includes returning Asylum star Chloe Sevigny, Freak Show alum Wes Bentley and Matt Bomer, along with new additions Cheyenne Jackson and Lady Gaga. FX boss John Landgraf described American Horror Story Season 5 as an “unusually large reinvention” of the series, while Jessica Lange confirmed her exit, series stars Sarah Paulson and Denis O’Hare gave an optimistic outlook on appearances, and X-Men: Apocalypse star Evan Peters’ participation also remains in question.
Time will tell if the Season 5 shakeup turns American Horror Story around, but an Emmy-winning series veteran can hardly go wrong. Who else beside Kathy Bates should join the cast as production gears up for a summer start?
