'Arrow' season 3 has made much of the new day in Starling City to come with Wednesday's "The Calm," but for as much of a bright future Oliver Queen has on the horizon, darkness always finds a way to creep back in. Enter our second clip from 'Arrow''s season 3 premiere, as Oliver takes on the "new" Count Vertigo (Peter Stormare), and winds up fighting a much deadlier enemy: himself.

The latest season 3 clip sees Werner Zytle (Stormare) introducing himself to the Arrow as the latest to peddle an enhanced version of the late "Count"s drug, one that comes with a trippy side effect. Oliver faces a fight with his greatest fear, as Zytle's visage morphs into that of Oliver himself, and sees the vigilante trading blows with his own alter-ego.

Meanwhile, here’s how The CW describes ‘Arrow’ season 3:

In the aftermath of victory, Season Three opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen – not as long as the city needs The Arrow.

Most recently adding 'Spartacus' vet Nick Tarabay as 'Flash' villain Captain Boomerang and Matt Nable as DC baddie Ra's al Ghul, 'Arrow' season 3 has also recruited 'Superman Returns' star Brandon Routh in a major recurring role as tech magnate (and likely Felicity love interest) Ray Palmer, better known as DC's "The Atom." Not only that, but J.R. Ramirez will appear as DC superhero Wildcat, David Cubitt will play DC's Manhunter, Matt Ward will play Komodo, Amy Gumenick will portray DC's Cupid and 'Glee''s Nolan Funk will guest as Felicity's flashback boyfriend

Additionally, 'Real Steel’ star Karl Yune will play Oliver’s flashback Hong Kong handler alongside Rila Fukushima as DC's Katana, having replaced Devon Aoki. Departed series stars Caity Lotz and Colin Donnell will also return for early episodes this season, and we've also got our first full look at Colton Haynes' costume in his new vigilante persona of "Arsenal," in addition to the latest premiere photos from season 3 opener, "The Calm."

We'll see more of Oliver's internal (now external) struggles with this Wednesday's premiere, but in the meantime, what say you? Does 'Arrow' season 3 look to be the DC drama's strongest yet? Watch the clip above, and give us your predictions in the comments!
