Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Adds ‘Tomorrow People’ Star as First Major Inhuman

Much as we’ve enjoyed ‘Agent Carter’’s 1940s adventures through the Marvel universe, March 3 will see the ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ returning to present day after its 2014 finale, charting a new course through the “Aftershocks” of “What They Become.” To wit, Marvel has cast its very first documented ‘Inhuman,’ tasking ‘Tomorrow People’’s Luke Mitchell as an enigmatic new figure for Skye.

Per Marvel’s official announcement, Mitchell will take the role of a charismatic Inhuman (yes, they’re officially using the word) named Lincoln, who himself has an important role to play in Skye (or Daisy?) coming to grips with the true extent of her supposed “transformation.” From the looks of things, we doubt if Ward will be too thrilled to find another handsome Marvel man mentoring the young Daisy “Quake” Johnson.

Says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb of the casting, which itself marks the first formal role of an explicit “Inhuman”:

With the revelations surrounding Skye’s true identity in the Winter Finale, we knew we’d be introducing more Inhumans as our story progressed. The charming energy Luke brings to the role that will make him a character to watch as we continue our season.

Elsewhere of ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’’s second season, we know that ‘Battlestar Galactica’ vet Edward James Olmos will put in an appearance as the mysterious Robert Gonzales, a man who “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team,” but producers aren’t revealing anything else of the role just yet. In addition to Blair Underwood’s arrival as Melinda May’s ex-husband, the March 3 return of Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ will also begin to lay ground for ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ in some capacity.

We’ll see what Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ have to offer the ‘Inhumans’ in just a few weeks’ time, but what say you? Are you excited to see ‘The Tomorrow People’'s Luke Mitchell leading the charge of Marvel’'s upcoming franchise?
