HBO’s latest 2015 trailer gave us quite a bit to chew on, from ‘Game of Thrones’ to ‘Westworld,’ but outpacing either of those will be the return of Hannah Horvath and co. for ‘Girls’ season 4. To wit, HBO has released an extended 7-minute preview invitation to the set, showing off everything from a multitude of guest stars, to new plots involving Jell-O wrestling, more Marnie music, and why not, even political ambitions.

Heading through each character in detail, the newest ‘Girls’ season 4 preview sets Hannah up with her Iowa writers’ workshop, though the relocation predictably strains her relationship with Adam, and even some of her fellow writers. Marnie makes music and breaks hearts (but isn’t a monster, sayeth Lena Dunham), while Shoshannah struggles to adapt to the real world, Jessa seems meaner than usual, and wouldn’t you know it, Ray wants to get politically involved with his community! Marc Maron’s there too!

Elsewhere, we know of ‘Girls’ season 4 that production will return to the 10-episode format over season 3′s elevation to 12, while series star Andrew Rannells will enter season 4 promoted to series regular, and Adam Driver will remain a regular despite his ‘Star Wars’ casting. ‘Community’ star Gillian Jacobs will recur in a season 4 role, joining ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘Heroes’ veteran Zachary Quinto, as well as ‘Orange is the New Black’’s Natasha Lyonne, Maude Apatow, Spike Jonze (acting) and ‘Obvious Child’ star Jake Lacey.

Additionally, ‘Parenthood’ star Jason Ritter will play a small part, while Marin Ireland of ‘Homeland,’ filmmaker Desiree Akhavan and actor Peter Mark Kendall have been given recurring roles as fellow students in the writing program. ‘SNL’ alum Ana Gasteyer will also play Shoshannah’s mother, alongside ‘E.R.’ veteran Anthony Edwards as her father.

The ‘Girls’ of HBO will be back for season 4 on January 11, but in the meantime check out the lengthy preview above, as well as a trailer below, and give us your predictions in the comments!
