‘Luke Cage’ Goes Behind the Music in New Season 1 Featurette
Excited as we are for Marvel’s Netflix Luke Cage, perhaps even more anticipated is that of the show’s curated soundtrack from Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge of A Tribe Called Quest. Now, a new featurette takes us inside the beats and beat downs from each episode with some special guests.
Netflix released the first of several new featurettes for Luke Cage, this time focused on the music behind the Harlem vibe of the series. In it, executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker, Mike Colter, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Adrian Younge of A Tribe Called Quest, A$AP Ferg and Method Man comment on how each episode is shaped by its score and musical influence.
Says the official synopsis:
After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city – forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.
Netflix’s Luke Cage will feature among its supporting cast Sons of Anarchy vet Theo Rossi as “Shades” Alvarez, alongside Mahershala Ali’s Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, Alfre Woodard’s Mariah Dillard, Erik LaRay Harvey’s Diamondback, Frank Whaley’s Detective Rafael Scarfe and Simone Missick’s Misty Knight. Additionally, Rosario Dawson is confirmed to her reprise her role as Claire Temple for a more significant arc.
We’ll also likely meet Iron Fist toward the end of the season as well, but stay tuned for more news of Luke Cage’s September 30 premiere!
