Marvel’s Iron Fist hasn’t teased a central villain in the same way as its Netflix predecessors, but The Defenders are going to need some common enemy to rally against. So it is that Daredevil’s Madame Gao returns in a new Iron Fist featurette, and can The Hand be far behind?

Netflix released a new featurette from the March 17 release, teasing Danny’s mysterious mission as he returns to New York from the mythical K’un L’un. We still don’t know how Gao fits into all of this (The Hand isn’t explicitly mentioned, either), but there’s definitely something mystical waiting in the wings here; one that’s apparently “infested” the Rand Corporation.

Now set for a March 2017 premiere, so reads the Iron Fist synopsis:

Returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Elsewhere, following the addition of Jessica Henwick as Colleen Wing, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Jessica Stroup as Joy Meachum and David Wenham as Harold Meachum, past breakdowns also suggested Iron Fist would cast the roles of Shang Chi and “Steel Serpent.” Scott Buck will showrun Iron Fist, while Jessica Jones writer Scott Reynolds will also have a hand on the creative side, and a list of directors has been announced (including RZA!).

Iron Fist will reveal more soon, so stay tuned for the latest as it arrives.
