‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ 2015 Premiere Sneak Peek: Coulson and May Sift Through ‘Aftershocks’
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will reclaim its Tuesday throne from Agent Carter next week, but plenty of Inhuman “Aftershocks” will keep Coulson’s team on their toes. Speaking of major impacts, check out the first clip from Tuesday’s 2015 premiere, as Coulson and May prepare a prisoner exchange, one that doesn’t go horribly wrong at all!
Our first extended sneak peek of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. return picks up a bit of leftover business from 2014's “What They Become,” as Hydra operative Sunil Bakshi finds himself a prisoner of the new S.H.I.E.L.D. Coulson arranges a transfer in exchange for General Talbot (on a tablet!)’s help, but wouldn’t you know it, the ol’ surprise vehicular T-boning still has a place in TV.
So reads Marvel’s synopsis for the second half of Season 2:
After discovering an alien city with ties to his resurrection, Coulson and his team destroyed it before the forces of Hydra could claim its secrets, eliminating the villainous Whitehall (Reed Diamond) in the process. But new threats to the world have arisen, including Skye’s father, Cal (Kyle McLachlan), who now seeks retribution against Coulson for stealing his revenge against Whitehall; a disturbing alliance between former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Agent 33; the enigmatic Raina (Ruth Negga), who struggles with her transformation into something inhuman by the alien Obelisk and seeks vengeance; and Skye (Chloe Bennet), who developed mysterious new powers from the Obelisk but whose lack of experience with her new abilities may threaten the safety of those she loves.
Meanwhile, Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) and Mack (Henry Simmons) begin the next phase of a plan which seems to have grave repercussions for Coulson and his team, who are unaware that there’s another mysterious force moving against them. And as Hunter (Nick Blood) is forced to make the biggest choice of his life, Coulson will find his mission threatened by this shocking endgame.
In the midseason premiere, “Aftershocks,” Coulson’s team must deal with the consequences of their war with Hydra as shocking revelations threaten to tear them apart, and Hydra makes a dangerous move that may involve a traitor in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s midst.
Elsewhere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s return, we know that Battlestar Galactica vet Edward James Olmos will put in an appearance as the mysterious Robert Gonzales, a man who “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team,” while Luke Mitchell will portray the Inhuman “Lincoln,” Drea de Matteo will play the villainous Karla Fay Gideon and Blair Underwood guests as Melinda May’s ex-husband. In addition to Jaimie Alexander‘s return as Lady Sif, the March 3 return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also begin to lay ground for Avengers: Age of Ultron in some capacity.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has plenty of surprises in store for March 3, but check out the sneak peek above and latest trailers below, and prepare next week’s “Aftershocks!”
