Marvel’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Feel the “Aftershocks” in First 2015 Photos
Marvel’s Agent Carter will come to a (seasonal) close next week, making way for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and their Inhuman adventures to make a grand return. We’ve seen the first trailer for 2015 premiere “Aftershocks,” but what secrets can we glean from a full set of photos previewing the March 3 return?
Picking up after 2014 winter finale “What They Become,” our first look at Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2's return has the team regrouping in the wake of Skye’s apparent “transformation,” while Mack seems to have recovered nicely. Other shots showcase Sunil Bakshi still in custody, while Coulson comforts a woman we’d guess to be Trip’s mother, and hey, look! It’s General Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) in tablet form! Talbot tablet! We got jokes, folks.
So reads Marvel’s synopsis for the second half of Season 2:
After discovering an alien city with ties to his resurrection, Coulson and his team destroyed it before the forces of Hydra could claim its secrets, eliminating the villainous Whitehall (Reed Diamond) in the process. But new threats to the world have arisen, including Skye’s father, Cal (Kyle McLachlan), who now seeks retribution against Coulson for stealing his revenge against Whitehall; a disturbing alliance between former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Ward (Brett Dalton) and Agent 33; the enigmatic Raina (Ruth Negga), who struggles with her transformation into something inhuman by the alien Obelisk and seeks vengeance; and Skye (Chloe Bennet), who developed mysterious new powers from the Obelisk but whose lack of experience with her new abilities may threaten the safety of those she loves.
Meanwhile, Bobbi (Adrianne Palicki) and Mack (Henry Simmons) begin the next phase of a plan which seems to have grave repercussions for Coulson and his team, who are unaware that there’s another mysterious force moving against them. And as Hunter (Nick Blood) is forced to make the biggest choice of his life, Coulson will find his mission threatened by this shocking endgame.
In the midseason premiere, “Aftershocks,” Coulson’s team must deal with the consequences of their war with Hydra as shocking revelations threaten to tear them apart, and Hydra makes a dangerous move that may involve a traitor in S.H.I.E.L.D.’s midst.
Elsewhere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s return, we know that Battlestar Galactica vet Edward James Olmos will put in an appearance as the mysterious Robert Gonzales, a man who “will have massive repercussions for Director Coulson and his team,” while Luke Mitchell will portray the Inhuman “Lincoln,” Drea de Matteo will play the villainous Karla Fay Gideon and Blair Underwood guests as Melinda May’s ex-husband. In addition to Jaimie Alexander‘s return as Lady Sif, the March 3 return of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will also begin to lay ground for Avengers: Age of Ultron in some capacity.
We’ve included the latest Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. return trailers below, but will the March 3 premiere live up to the Inhuman hype?
